Here it is guys, the launch of the up-until-now unimaginable Signature Boot.
For those of you still need a bit more info, we've provided our press release below:
Renowned for their current ranges of hip and modish clothing, accessories and footwear, fashion brand Topshop prides itself on getting it right. But has the high-street retailer put its foot in it this time?
We jolly well hope so, right into a great big pool of Glastonbury mud! Yes that’s right; it’s the Topshop-Glasto alliance, and what a winning combination it is - a craze-creating chain joining forces with a fad-finding festival, but to what avail?
Head bands, check. Granny dresses, check. Granny glasses, check. Crocheted hats, check. Arm-full-of-bangles, check. Bare feet, ch… hang on, this is a festival we’re talking about!
Ahh - the 60’s. An unfamiliar era for those fortunate enough to be too young to remember, but undeniably this was the epoch of the hippy, and the idiosyncratic fashion that came with it.
Okay, so the hippies gave us a lot - but the dudes at Topshop have gone one step further, unearthing the Glastonbury Signature Boot. The festival-endorsed Wellington is set to take the footwear market, rather appropriately, by storm. It encourages social interaction, love, peace and harmony (yawn yawn yawn…) but seriously, this boot is just so far out!
The Wellington is made from reclaimed plastic and has a permanent marker pen attached to encourage wearers to get ‘festival friends’ to sign it with quirky messages, Facebook details, and mobile contact numbers etc. The boot has a coloured tread in correlation to the colour of the festival wristband and a serrated number on the sole, representing festival year. A transparent pouch on the side of the welly is a nifty place for the festivalgoer to slot in their ticket.
“The Signature Boot is the most talked about sensation in the footwear market at present. It is a must have image-completing accessory for every festivalgoer, appealing chiefly to those interested in social interaction. At Topshop brand loyalty is important, but the customers’ reasons to buy this product are twofold; their love for fashion and their love for the festival scene.” Comments Topshop’s Press Officer, Andrew Leahy.
The boot, fittingly, supports the bid in reducing our ecological footprint. The Signature Boot tackles this as it is a memento; consequently the product lifetime is increased by producing a keepsake item which the customer will come to feel attached to.
Put simply, the boots are mini chronicles of the festival. By promoting a sentimental connection, there will be less plastic in landfill sites. What is more, the product is fully recyclable if you get too big for your boots – we wouldn’t blame you, they are fantastic!
The wondrous welly is both durable and affordable, priced at just £24.99. 10% of this cost will go to Oxfam, a charity supported by Glastonbury. The product is available for purchase from Topshop stores and Glastonbury Festival stalls on the days of trading. Are these available for purchase online? You bet your boots they are! The Topshop and Glasto e-commerce systems facilitate easy purchase opportunities, in keeping with the consumer’s busy lifestyle.
Topshop will help turn Glastonbury from base camp to boot camp, and what a welly good idea that is!
